Pakistan Sends 100-Ton Humanitarian Assistance to Flood-Affected Nepal

On the directions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan, through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), dispatched a 100-ton humanitarian assistance consignment to Nepal today to support communities affected by the devastating floods. Federal Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry attended the send-off ceremony as the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering before the departure of the relief consignment. The ceremony was attended by Chairman NDMA Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, senior NDMA officials and other dignitaries. The humanitarian assistance was dispatched to Nepal by chartered aircraft and comprised essential relief supplies, including family tents, blankets, bubble mats, hygiene kits and medicines. Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and the humanitarian crisis caused by the catastrophic floods that struck Nepal on August 26. He said that according to the latest reports, more than 1,300 people had lost their lives while over 4,200 remained missing, with rescue and relief operations continuing under extremely challenging conditions. “At this difficult hour, Pakistan stands firmly with the people and Government of Nepal,” the Federal Minister said. He emphasized that the humanitarian assistance being dispatched on the directions of the Prime Minister reflected Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of Nepal in their time of need. The Minister said the 100-ton relief consignment was more than a shipment of essential supplies. “This assistance is a message of solidarity from the people of Pakistan to the people of Nepal. Pakistan, having itself faced devastating earthquakes and floods, understands the pain and hardship caused by such disasters,” he said. Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry appreciated the tireless efforts of the Government of Nepal, its security forces, emergency responders, humanitarian organizations and volunteers working to save lives and provide assistance to affected communities. “Our message to the people of Nepal is simple: You are not alone. Pakistan stands with you,” the Minister said, reaffirming Pakistan’s support and solidarity with the people of Nepal during the humanitarian crisis. The Federal Minister prayed for the departed souls and expressed hope for the safe recovery of those still missing, as well as the speedy recovery and rehabilitation of the affected communities. Concluding his remarks, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry wished the relief mission a safe journey and successful delivery of Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Nepal.
