ISLAMABAD, SEPTEMBER 08, 2026:  Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary addressed the launch ceremony of the Senate mobile application today, describing the initiative as a significant step toward making parliament more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the public.

The Federal Minister stated that the launch of the mobile application represents far more than the simple adoption of a digital facility, noting that it reflects a broader institutional determination to modernize parliamentary systems. He emphasized that a modern parliament must not only legislate effectively but also possess advanced platforms through which laws can be debated, scrutinized, recorded, and communicated seamlessly.

Highlighting the mandate of his ministry, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary underscored that the digital transformation holds immense significance for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. He affirmed that the core responsibility of the ministry is to strengthen institutional linkages between parliament and the government, facilitate the smooth conduct of legislative business, and promote an environment rooted in transparency, coordination, and effective governance. He added that modern digital tools will render this relationship faster, structured, and more responsive.

The Minister outlined the vision for an integrated parliamentary ecosystem where institutional data moves securely, legislative records remain openly accessible, parliamentarians participate in proceedings in real-time, and citizens gain direct visibility into the work being carried out on their behalf. He stressed that citizens should not face cumbersome hurdles merely to understand the functioning of parliament, pointing out that the legislative institution of the future must communicate in the medium and language people use every day.

Addressing institutional safeguards, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary cautioned that digital advancement must never compromise parliamentary privilege, constitutional procedures, institutional independence, or data integrity, stressing that technology must serve parliament while parliament remains firmly guided by the Constitution.

Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary extended his congratulations to Acting President and Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani for his leadership in steering this modernization effort, while commending the Senate of Pakistan for fostering an institutional culture of innovation. He expressed confidence that the initiative marks the start of a broader journey toward building a smarter, highly connected, and citizen-centric legislature.
